My wife Saphira and I recently relocated to Goa after living in Bangalore for 12 years and we have been enjoying the beautiful beaches, food and culture of Goa for a couple of years now.
This year too, the feast was celebrated on a grand scale opposite the St.Anthony’s Church, Siolim. A large number of Goans and tourists participated in the event wearing beautiful coronets known as ‘Kopel’ in Konkani which are made of leaves, flowers and even fruits, there is no lack of creativity in Goa.
The boat competition at the Anjuna River was a big hit, with people from as far as Colva, Salcete participating by decorating their boats and spreading messages of peace and love, the event was nothing short of a water carnival with rain dancing, spot prizes, costumes and beautiful music!
We feel truly blessed that our daughters Samaira (9) and Rizelle (4) were able to participate in the Sao Joao festivities and truly appreciate our Goan traditions and culture.
